More than ever the question of mental health and how to take care of it becomes not only ‘an interesting issue’ but a matter of urgency and heightened priority. The dramatic change of social life norms and circumstances, lack of clear directions for the present day, and – most worryingly – lack of the clear future, create unprecedented set of stressors that we have to contend with and have no way to run away from. New phrases like pandemic, social distancing, lock down send chills down the spine. Old phrases like ‘stay at home’, ‘wash your hands’ adopted completely new, foreboding meaning.
So how to take care of our tormented mental health?
Pretty much the same as you look after your physical health – by being attentive and understanding to what it needs in terms of rest, exercise, nutrition. In my conversation with Keri Roberts we explain in more detail what it actually means and how to make it a new healthy habit in our ‘new every day life’, with the application of mindfulness principles and practices.
